Doreen Moracha, HIV social media advocate from Kenya, sharing her advice on how to make an impact in online advocacy. So first thing is stay informed. Always have the correct information because we are living in a world that has so much information and also so much misinformation. So the people who are misinformed will always be there to counter you at all times. So you have to read the documents. You have to know what has UNAIDS said. What is the latest target? Where are we heading to? Like, you must know where we are as of now with the HIV response. The second thing is you have to remain consistent. And consistency is what grows you from 5 followers to 10 followers to 100 to 1000 to 100,000. It doesn't happen overnight. I know nowadays we're living in the world where you want to trend, and go viral... overnight. It’s possible, it can happen. But consistency keeps you that even if you go viral overnight, you are still going to do the same thing tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and every other day. Also you need to have a niche. What is your entry point? If your entry point is your lived experience, how do you leverage your lived experience to a teachable moment? Because I can always wake up every day and say my name is Doreen. I'm living with HIV. I've been on treatment for 19 years. And so what is the lesson? What am I trying to tell people? So at the end you can say you can stay positive, you can take your treatment well. Treatment works, right? You've passed on a message around treatment. You can speak about your experience.
